Course Description

 

No more struggling through sewing projects! This class will teach you to sew the fun and easy way. Learn how to operate your sewing machine, understand basic sewing terms and techniques, select fabric, read a pattern, layout and cut fabric and sew together a finished piece you can be proud of. Whether you want to redecorate your home or make crafts and clothes, we'll get you stitching in the right direction.

 

Course Objectives:

 

At the completion of this course, you will be able to:

  2. Operate a sewing machine
  3. Select Fabrics
  4. Read a pattern
  5. Layout fabric and pattern
  6. Mark and cut fabric
  7. Interpret pattern directions
  8. Sew basic features
  9. Sew fabric pieces

  1. Sewing Machine, in good working order
  2. Sewing Machine Power Cord
  3. Sewing Machine Operators Manual
  4. Sewing Machine needles - assorted sizes 11, 14, 16, 18
  5. (2) Bobbins
  6. Sharp Sewing Scissors (not paper)
  7. Straight Pins - glass head Size 22, 1-3/8" long (white preferred)
  8. Pin Cushion
  9. Hand Sewing Needles - assorted sizes
  10. Thimble
  11. (2) Spools Thread - (1) white, (1) black
  12. Tape Measure
  13. Bobkin
  14. Sewing Gauge
  15. Seam Ripper
  16. Marking Pencils - (1) white, (1) blue
  17. Tracing Paper
  18. Tracing Wheel

 

 

$15.00 for Project supplies to be paid to instructor. Project supplies include project handout, pattern and notions.
