WATERCOLOR PAINTING MATERIALS
Instructor:
Susan Schneider
- Pad of watercolor paper (140 lb minimum weight); Strathmore is a
good brand. It needs to say Cold
Press on the cover. Do not buy Hot
Press paper.
- 1" flat brush (synthetic ok and if you have any of your own
brushes, bring them to the first class); Round brush with a good point: a #8 or
#10. Buy individual brushes and not
those in assorted size containers.
- Watercolor pigments: If you
do not want to buy individual tubes, then buy a double set of Prang. Do not buy Crayola.
- Pigments in tubes: Aureolin Yellow
(transparent), cadmium yellow (warm), cadmium red (warm), alizarin crimson
(cold), ultramarine blue (warm), cobalt blue (cool), viridian green
(warm), sap green (warm). These are suggested colors but if you have
watercolor sets, bring them to the first evening.
- Bring a plastic palette that folds up (Fred Meyer is a good source
for these).
- Frog or blue tape and a drawing board for under the paper.
