Decorating Bag and Coupler and the following tips: 2, 3, 5-7, 10, 16, 18, 21, 103, 104, and 199;
Paste or Gel cake colors;
Small bowls for mixing colors;
Spatulas; and
1
recipe Classroom Icing.
Basic Classroom Icing
2 pounds of powdered sugar
2 cups shortening (or 1 cup shortening and 1 cup butter) [but not in class!!!!]
½ teaspoon salt
Vanilla and butter flavors to taste, approximately 1 teaspoon each.
¼ to 1/3 cup water
Beat shortening, salt, and flavorings together until creamy. Add sugar and water alternately until icing is smooth and easily spread. Do not add water all at once as weather and sugar consistency changes the amount needed.
